Below are answers to some common questions about my approach and the counseling process. If you have additional questions, I would be happy to discuss them during a consultation.
Common questions about counseling

Some of the areas I commonly work with include:
- Couples counseling
- Relationship conflict and communication difficulties
- Healing after infidelity or betrayal
- Pornography-related concerns and problematic sexual behaviors
- Shame and patterns that feel difficult to change
- Developmental and relational trauma
- Emotional connection and personal growth
- Anxiety, depression, anger, and other mood-related concerns
What is a Certified Gottman Therapist (CGT)?
A Certified Gottman Therapist has completed advanced training and certification through the Gottman Institute, an organization known for its extensive research on healthy relationships and successful marriages.
Gottman Method Couples Therapy uses research-based strategies to help couples improve communication, manage conflict more effectively, strengthen friendship and emotional connection, and rebuild trust when relationships have been damaged.
In our work together, these principles can help us identify relationship patterns, build healthier interactions, and create a stronger foundation for your relationship.
What is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT)?
A Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) is a clinician who has received specialized training through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) to work with individuals and couples affected by problematic sexual behaviors, pornography-related concerns, and sexual addiction concerns.
This specialized training provides additional understanding of the emotional, relational, and behavioral factors involved in these struggles.
What does it mean to have specialized training in developmental and relational trauma?
My specialized training as a Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapist (DARTT) focuses on understanding how early relationships and life experiences shape emotional well-being, relationship patterns, and the ways we cope with stress and adversity.
This training helps me work with clients whose current struggles may be rooted in earlier experiences, guiding them toward greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, and lasting emotional healing.
Is online counseling effective?
Yes. Research has shown that online counseling can be an effective way to receive therapy for many concerns.
Telehealth can also provide additional privacy and convenience, allowing you to participate in counseling from the comfort of your own space without needing to travel.
I provide online counseling throughout Ohio.
What are your fees, and do you accept insurance?
Room to Rise Counseling is a private-pay practice and does not participate directly with insurance plans.
Choosing to operate as a private-pay practice allows me to focus on providing personalized care without many of the limitations that can come with insurance requirements. Rather than allowing insurance requirements to guide treatment, we can focus on your unique needs, goals, and the pace of your healing.
My current fees are:
- Initial Intake Session (50 minutes): $180
- Individual Counseling (50 minutes): $160
- Couples Counseling (90 minutes): $240
- Free 30-minute consultation for prospective clients
Depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement. If requested, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to learn more about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
What are your office hours?
Appointments are available Monday through Thursday. Because availability changes over time, please contact me or schedule a free consultation for current openings.
Because I provide virtual counseling, you can attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of your home, office, or another confidential location anywhere in Ohio.
How do I get started?
The first step is scheduling a consultation. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what brings you to counseling, answer questions, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit.
You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
