About Nate Ellis

Welcome
A compassionate partner in your journey toward healing and change
Reaching out for counseling can be a difficult step, especially when the struggles you are facing involve deeply personal areas of life such as relationships, sexuality, trust, trauma, or shame.
My goal is to create a counseling environment where you feel safe, understood, and respected. I believe meaningful change is possible when people have the opportunity to be honest about their experiences, understand the roots of their struggles, and develop practical tools for moving forward.

My Story
My Story
Understanding and helping people is a value that has shaped my life from an early age. Growing up with caregivers whose backgrounds included psychology, education, and ministry, I developed an appreciation for the complexity of human experiences and the importance of supporting others.
Over time, my own experiences with hardship, healing, and personal growth deepened my passion for this work. Experiencing the impact of compassionate and effective therapy in my own life gave me a deeper appreciation for the courage it takes to seek help and the possibility of meaningful change.
My personal journey has also shaped the way I work with clients who are facing painful struggles related to relationships, sexuality, shame, and patterns they want to change. I understand how difficult it can be to bring these parts of life into the light, and I strive to create a space where honesty, accountability, and healing can happen together.
My Approach
Honest conversations, without judgment.

Easy to talk to
Clients often describe me as easy to talk to, a good listener, and calm. I strive to create a space where difficult conversations can happen with honesty and without judgment.

Change in the present
At the same time, counseling is not only about understanding the past; it is also about creating change in the present. I work collaboratively with clients to explore the deeper roots of their struggles while developing practical skills and strategies to build healthier relationships and more fulfilling lives.

Not defined by struggles
I believe people are not defined by their struggles or their mistakes. With understanding, responsibility, and the right support, people can heal, grow, and create meaningful change.

Credentials
Education & Professional Credentials
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Ohio. I earned my Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Malone University, where I received training in clinical counseling and psychotherapy.
I have pursued specialized training and certification in areas that align with my work with individuals and couples, including:
- Certified Gottman Therapist (CGT) — Gottman Method Couples Therapy
- Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT)
- Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapist (DARTT)
These specialized trainings allow me to provide focused support for couples working through relationship challenges, infidelity and trust repair, individuals navigating pornography-related concerns and unwanted sexual behaviors, and clients healing from relational and developmental trauma.
What Grounds Me Outside of Counseling
Outside of my work as a counselor, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new places around Columbus, playing strategy board games with friends, and finding opportunities to slow down and recharge. I believe growth happens not only through intentional work in therapy, but also through meaningful relationships, creativity, play, and connection.

Confidential space
A Confidential and Supportive Space
I understand that reaching out for counseling can feel intimidating, especially when discussing areas of life that are deeply personal or difficult to talk about.
Your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance. My hope is that you will experience counseling as a place where you can be honest, understood, and supported as you work toward the changes you desire.
Healing is possible—but it begins with the willingness to take the first step.
